Abigail Tennant
Abby Tennant is a 12th grade student at Twin Valley High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the FFA, 4H, and LINK and also plays club soccer. Abby joined 4H after a school trip to their national convention in Washington DC. At this convention, Abby and the Pennsylvania delegates created a lesson plan for agriculture literacy in pollinators. They are now going through the process of implementing the lesson in their elementary schools. Abby is a camp counselor with 4H and helps teach lessons at science day camps. As the president of the Twin Valley Chapter of the FFA, Abby has gone to many events, leadership workshops, and competitions over the past four years. She went to State, Regional, and National conventions with the Twin Valley Floriculture team. Their most recent competition placed them 26th in the nation while Abby placed 87th individually. Abby has had one internship in the past year at Cedar Hill Flower Shop. She plans to do another with Stein’s flowers at the end of the second semester. Abby has already begun her post-secondary education with Longwood Gardens, earning her certificate in floral design. She plans to continue this program until she is certified. Abby would eventually like to open her own flower shop and make designs for weddings and social events.
Joshua Wiest
Joshua Wiest is a Senior at Twin Valley High School (TVHS), where he has maintained distinguished honors for four years. During his Sophomore year, he enrolled at the Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) for Mechatronic Engineering. The Mechatronics Engineering Technologies Program integrates mechatronics, robotics, and electronics content to provide a robust foundation for students who are considering engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or automation as a career. This year, Joshua joined the Technical Academy, in which students are enrolled at both BCTC and Reading Area Community College (RACC) and have the opportunity to develop advanced technical skills and earn college credit toward an associate and/or bachelor’s degree. In addition to his academics at TVHS, BCTC, and RACC, Joshua serves as a BCTC Student Ambassador, a National Honor Society Member, and recently joined the Twin Valley High School Student Council.
