Marisa Lizins, Chris Doyle and Dalton Drahus
On May 18, the Twin Valley Rotary Club was proud to honor Twin Valley High School seniors, Marisa Lizins and Dalton Drahus, as their students of the month. The presentation was made at their weekly meeting. Marisa and Dalton were honored for their participation in numerous extracurricular activities and excellent academic standing.
Marisa Lizins has been a member of the Varsity Soccer Team for the past four years, where she helped the team reach the Berks County Playoffs in 2013, and the PIAA District 3 playoffs in 2015. She has been a member of the Rage Soccer Club on the 97’ Athletica Team for the past six years. The team was the Super-Y North American Runner Up in 2012, and qualified for the North American Championship in 2013 and 2014. She has also been a member of the Varsity Spring Track and Field Team. She was a member of the team’s 4×800 meter relay, which placed fifth in the District 3 championships, and qualified for the state championships last spring. The relay also came in first place in the Berks County championships this spring. She has also been a three year varsity member on the Swim Team. She was inducted to the National Honors Society in her sophomore year, and has volunteered her time to various organizations in the community such as the Twin Valley Food Bank, Morgantown Village Library, Tel Hai Retirement Center, the Elementary Centers and St. John’s Church. She peer tutors her fellow classmates at Twin Valley. Marisa plans on attending University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in the fall where she intends to double major in criminology and justice administration and mathematics. She will also be playing soccer at the varsity level for the school.
Dalton Drahus has been a member of various sports and clubs throughout the entirety of his high school career. He has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for four years and took on the role as team captain for three of these years. In 2015 he helped take the team to Berks County Playoffs for the first time in the program’s history. He has also been a member of 380 Lacrosse Club and Brine National team. In addition to lacrosse, he has played soccer and golf for Twin Valley. In addition to athletics, Dalton spends a lot of his time in clubs such as Student Council, HOSA and The National Honors Society. He was inducted into the National Honors Society in his sophomore year, and has volunteered his service at Tel Hai Retirement Center, Hay Creek Apple Festival, Twin Valley Food Pantry and the Reading Hospital. This year he expanded his responsibilities becoming Tutor Chair for NHS. Dalton plans on attending Pennsylvania State University this fall where he intends on majoring in nursing. He plans on playing Division One Club Lacrosse and joining a fraternity.
