On April 19 the Twin Valley Rotary Club was proud to honor Twin Valley High School seniors Kenneth Brown and Maya Wynant as their Students of the Month. Kenny has enjoyed his time at Twin Valley and has been able to experience a lot of different classes and activities that interest him. He is very involved in Marching Band, being the section leader of the drumline and has been involved in Indoor Drumline, Taiko Percussion, and Concert Band. At Twin Valley, he has spent a lot of time in the Materials Workshop, taking 5 classes to learn how to design projects using CAD software and create them by hand, a laser, or a CNC machine. His future goals include attending Millersville University for Advanced Manufacturing to learn techniques and processes that he will be able to use in the workforce. His career goal is to start a shop where he can produce custom woodworking for builders and clients.
Maya Wynant has had the pleasure of being involved in a number of activities during her four-year high school career. She is part of Stage Crew, National Art Honor Society, MiniTHON, and participated on the Winter Track team. These groups have not only expanded her skill sets as a student, but have introduced her to countless incredible and talented individuals. Outside of school, Maya has volunteered at local food banks, at the West Chester Chili Cook-Off, and the Philadelphia Autism Speaks Motorcycle Ride. She has also created art that has been displayed at shows at Goggleworks and the Rotary Club. After graduation, she plans on attending the University of Pittsburgh. Although she is not certain of her major area of study, she plans on minoring in Studio Arts and enjoying the experiences that the university has to offer. Maya is excited for the opportunities that education and the future will bring. In the future, she hopes to use her education to help as many people as possible, as well as continuing to create art.
