Gary Meals is a senior at Twin Valley High School who is very active throughout the school community. He is proud of his ability to balance academics, extracurriculars, and a part-time job at Scoupe DeVille Ice Cream Parlor, where he has learned valuable time and money management skills. Academically, Gary always pushes himself to take high-level courses in various areas, including music, theater, and engineering. In lieu of the Engineering Design and Development course, Gary and one of his classmates are enrolled in an Engineering Internship this school year. Gary is also involved in a number of extracurricular activities. He has been a member of the TVHS Theatre Arts Club for 5 years and part of 7 productions. He completed more than 70 hours of volunteer service, which qualifies him to graduate with Theatre Arts Club Honors. Gary is also involved in the Boy Scouts of America, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout Project alone took over 180 hours to complete. Gary is also involved in the TVHS Select Choir, TVHS Marching band, TVHS Tri-M Music Honors Society, and the TVHS Indoor Percussion Ensemble. After high school, Gary plans on attending a four-year university to study Aerospace engineering, most likely specializing in Astronautics. Gary would like to thank his teachers, peers, and parents for getting him to where he is today.
Alexa Duke
Alexa Duke is a senior at Twin Valley High School who has worked to establish herself as a highly involved member of this community through the years. She is a hardworking student in and outside of school. While in Middle School, she rarely participated in any spirit days and would not attend pep rallies. Now, Alexa has grown significantly by being extremely involved in clubs throughout the school. For the past two years, she has been the event chair for Student Council and the public relation overall for our school’s Mini-THON club. Alexa is also a part of the National Honors Society, Ski Club, History Club, LINK, and TVHS Heros. Alexa enjoys being a part of the Girl’s High School Lacrosse team. She has played lacrosse since she was in sixth grade and is extremely passionate about the sport. At the age of 16, she began playing for the travel team, PA Express, which is located in Downingtown. During her time playing lacrosse for Twin Valley, the team has won two county championships, and 1 district title, and was runner-up for states. Alexa was the JV captain for the lacrosse team during her sophomore year. Alexa has also played varsity soccer for the past three years and was a member of the team when they placed fourth in districts. She was one of the captains this past season and a captain for her freshman and sophomore year for JV. As far as academics, she has maintained a 4.122 cumulative GPA and is ranked 37th in her class. Alexa was awarded Star Green Hand in FFA her freshman year. During Alexa’s sophomore year, she was one of two students out of her class to be nominated for HOBY, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership. HOBY is a youth leadership organization that identifies the leadership abilities of high schoolers and helps them apply those skills to their communities and the world. Alexa was also awarded the Certificate for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Chemistry II and the Good Citizenship Award in her Junior year. She intends to continue her academic career at the University of Delaware and major in Nursing. She also plans to try out for the university’s club lacrosse team to continue her athletic career.
