This year’s featured artist at the Tri-County Art Show and Sale is Mary Burke, who has recently begun exploring the world of watercolors and also teaches locally.
The 21st annual Tri-County Art Show and Sale, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Twin Valley, will be held from Friday to Sunday, April 8 to 10. The event will take place at the Caernarvon Township Community Center, 3307 Main Street, in Morgantown.
The event will begin with a gala preview reception from 7 to 10 p.m. on April 8. Food and beverages will be served, and guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists and participate in a silent auction. In addition, Twin Valley High School (TVHS) musicians will be performing during the reception.
The art show will be free to the public on Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the show, approximately 30 local artists and potters will display and sell their artwork. In addition, student artists from TVHS will present their work.
Mary Burke is this year’s featured artist. Mary attended the Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork, Ireland where she graduated with honors in Printmaking. She attended Rhode Island College to pursue a degree in Art Education, started studying with Bruce Becker at The Warehouse Studios and ultimately fell in love with oil painting. Lately, she has begun to explore watercolors, which allows her to express her ideas though a very different creative process. Mary paints in a realistic style using a variety of topics. She draws inspiration from the simplicity of everyday life that surrounds us and her desires to have people see the ordinary in an entirely different light. She is a member of The Warehouse Studio, and teaches at the Wider School and the Community Home School of Elverson.
The show is the primary fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Twin Valley. Proceeds from the event will benefit community and charitable activities in the Elverson, Morgantown and Honey Brook areas.
